Odoo's pricing page is simple on purpose. Two tiers, one number, click to buy. What it doesn't show you is what that number turns into by year two, or what it costs to actually get the system running. Here's the version we give clients on a whiteboard, not a sales page.
The License, Not the Whole Bill
Odoo's own pricing is genuinely straightforward. It's what happens after the first year, and after the license, that most businesses don't budget for.
| Plan | Year one (promo) | Renewal rate | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Community | $0 | $0 | Core apps, self-hosted, you handle maintenance |
| Standard | ~$24.90/user/mo | ~$31.10/user/mo | All apps, hosted on Odoo Online |
| Custom | ~$49/user/mo | ~$61/user/mo | Standard, plus Studio, API, multi-company |
US rates, billed annually. Odoo prices by region, so your figure may land lower or higher. Monthly billing instead of annual adds roughly 20 to 25 percent on top of these numbers.
The number on Odoo's homepage is a 12-month introductory rate on your initial users. After that, it renews at the standard list price, about 25 percent higher. That jump is rarely mentioned in the sales conversation, so it's worth budgeting for from day one.
What Actually Drives the Real Cost
License fees are the easy part to quote. The number that actually determines your total spend comes down to four things.
How many modules you're running
A business on Sales and Inventory alone spends far less time in configuration than one running Sales, Manufacturing, Accounting, HR, and CRM together. More modules means more setup, and more setup means more billable hours before go-live.
Whether you need Community or Custom
Community is free to license, but it isn't free to run. Someone has to host it, patch it, and keep it upgraded. For a lot of small businesses, that ends up costing more in outside help over a year than a Standard subscription would have.
How messy your current data is
Clean spreadsheets migrate in days. Data scattered across three systems, inconsistent formats, and years of manual entry takes real hours to clean before it can move into Odoo at all.
What you're integrating
Connecting Odoo to Stripe or QuickBooks is usually fast. A custom integration with a niche industry tool is its own project, priced separately from the core implementation.
"How much does Odoo cost" is really two questions: what's the license, and what does it take to make it actually work for your business. Most quotes only answer the first one.

Three Real Scenarios
Small service business, 5 to 10 users
~$1,500–$5,000 total, first year
Standard plan, a handful of core modules, light data migration. Often self-configured or a short, low-cost implementation engagement.
Growing SMB, 15 to 40 users, multiple modules
~$10,000–$35,000 total, first year
License fees plus a real implementation project: configuration, data migration, integrations, and staff training across several departments.
Multi-location or manufacturing, 40+ users
~$35,000–$80,000+ total, first year
Custom plan, complex bills of materials or multi-site inventory, deeper customization, and a longer implementation timeline to match.
Questions We Get About the Number
Is Community actually free?
The license is. Hosting, security patching, backups, and someone to maintain it aren't. For a lot of small businesses, those hidden costs end up close to what a Standard subscription would have cost outright.
Why did our quote come in higher than the website price?
The website price is licensing only. Implementation, configuration, data migration, and training are separate, and they're usually where most of the real cost sits.
Can we start small and add modules later?
Yes, and for a lot of businesses that's the more sensible path. Starting with the essentials keeps year-one cost down and gives your team time to adjust before adding more.
